In Romans 12:1 Paul reveals the key which will enable you to give the way God desires and expects you to give. Paul directs us to give our bodies as living sacrifices unto God.
God does not want part of your life. He expects you to give Him all of it! He does not ask for 25%, 50%, 75% or 99% of your life, He wants 100%! Your entire life is to be a living, continual sacrifice.!
How do you do this? This requires dedication of your body with all its members and your mind with all of your faculties to God. In the Old Testament the children of
Israel offered sacrifices on the altar which were wholly consumed, so our lives must be offered to God to be wholly consumed by Him.
We know the sacrifices and offering given in the Old Testament were types and shadows pointing to Christ and His ultimate sacrifice for man’s redemption. See Hebrews 10:14. Today, the sacrifice that is pleasing and acceptable to God is your entire life as a living sacrifice.
Before you can give the way God wants you to give, you must first give yourself as a living sacrifice unto God. When you have done this, all that you have will be fully surrendered to God, including your finances.
No longer will you be concerned about how much you will give because all that you have will be dedicated and consecrated unto God. Whenever God directs you to give, you will respond willingly and whole heartedly. When your life truly becomes a living sacrifice, you will give liberally because of your love for God. At every opportunity, you will worship Him through your giving, not because someone has asked you to give or because it is required of you; but, because of who He is, and, what He has done for you.
